Head of Compliance Jersey Channel Islands recruitment

Job Purpose:

To carry out a combined role, including the provision of compliance support to the Head of Compliance and the coordination of new business projects.

Principal Responsibilities:

· Provide support and guidance to the company and clients, on applicable regulatory compliance issues.
· Monitor the company and its clients on an ongoing basis to ensure that it meets all regulatory and legal requirements.
· Monitor the certificate conditions of our funds and report any deficiencies to the Board of Directors.
· Ensure that regulatory requests and other connected communications are handled in a prompt and efficient manner.
· Ensure Business Risk Assessments for the company and its clients are kept up-to-date and relevant.
· Supervise the maintenance of all registers (including breaches, complaints and errors) ensuring events are recorded, monitored, resolved, and reported to Senior Management where necessary.
· Assist in the desk based and on-site due diligence reviews of third party services providers. Assist in the production of written reports and recommendations as a result of these reviews.
· Assist in the production of regular compliance reports.
· Assist in the Annual ISE submission.
· Assist in the annual risk review process.
· Assist in the compliance monitoring and testing process.
· Assist in ensuring that all new clients’ credentials are investigated reviewed and documented before a business relationship is established.
· Assist in ensuring that all risks inherent in the new relationship are considered and documented prior to the take-on.
· Assist with JFSC and auditor queries during examinations.
· Assist the business units in monitoring any outsourced activities.
· Develop Key Risk and Performance Indicators.
· Maintain and update Compliance Policies and Procedures Manual.
· Coordinate the annual review process, ensuring all exemptions are recorded and resolved.
· Supervise Compliance Administrator.
· Supervise the monitoring of PEPs and other High Risk individuals.
· Train junior members of the Compliance Function.
· Educate staff on compliance issues and act as a contact point within the organisation for compliance and Customer Due Diligence queries from staff members.
· Coordinate the take-on of New Business within the business units and attend the New Business Committee meetings.
· Ensure the New Business Take On Checklist is completed and signed in full.
· Act as an additional contact for the JFSC and ensure there is an open and constructive relationship.
· Act as the Data Protection Officer
· Act as the Statistics Officer
Any other reasonable duties that may be assigned.

Knowledge Experience:
· A minimum of 5 years Compliance experience, ideally working in a funds environment
· Professional Compliance Qualification
· Highly organised and self-sufficient
· Ability to manage own workload and prioritise accordingly
· A cumulative understanding of all Compliance related Laws, Policy Statements and Guidance Notes in Jersey
· An excellent telephone manner and very good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally at all levels
· A high level of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality is essential due to the nature of the work
· Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word and Excel (intermediate level)
· Flexible, with the ability to work to time pressures and react calmly to changing demands
