Head of Compliance (m/f) recruitment
The future Head of Compliance will be based in Luanda (Angola) and, reporting to the CEO.
The ideal candidate would be an experience individual with a solid track record possessing strong ethical, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as comprehensive insight into FATF/AML and other regulatory compliance issues, good knowledge of local and international banking regulations and practice, with the ability be solution-oriented in solving problems and conciliate potential conflict situations as well as avoiding any conflict of interest situation.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsibility of leading the compliance of the Bank, including maintaining an ethical culture and code of conduct of the bank, and assuring the respect of the laws and internal rules;
- Control processes and procedures, draft or amend processes and procedures due to modified laws or whenever necessary. Assure that the bank documents are adapted to actual laws and protect both the bank and its clients;
- Collect and distribute information (laws, central bank circulars, etc.) to relevant staff and assure training and know-how transfer to all employees;
- Support front offices. Analyze actual situation in case of new products and review procedures if required. Control account opening documents, closure of accounts and client visits;
- Close collaboration with general management, internal and external legal counsel, human resources, and organization as well as with internal and external auditors. Collaborate with authorities;
- Daily supervision of incoming and outgoing payments in accordance with local foreign currency regulations, identification of suspicious transactions, control and contractual documents and insider transactions;
- Periodical reporting of compliance activities to the CEO, control application of special conditions for clients, establishing of an annual control plan for transactions, an annual training plan for all employees, and development an d implementation of a corrective action plan resulting from non-compliance.
Skills and specifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the compliance department of reputable banks in markets with a mature practice of compliance. Prior exposure to African or Latin America markets is a valuable asset;
- Access to a global network in the field of compliance and related areas;
- Experience in developing policies, directives, regulations, procedures and processes in banks;
- Ability to lead a compliance office with an “iron fist in a velvet glove” approach;
- High enthusiasm for working in a dynamic environment and new business building businesses, with a hands-on approach;
- Excellent academic background
- Proficient Portuguese and English is a must, additional language skills would be an ideal asset;
- Willingness to be based in Luanda and Availability for the 1st of April 2012.
