As the Head of Finance Controls within the UK Controllers group, a rapidly evolving team which is recognised for its innovation, you will be supporting the UK Financial Controller and the Deputy Controller. The purpose of this role is to manage, efficiently and effectively the financial controls and regulatory governance. The role will require you to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and guide the UK Finance organisation for the achievement of risk management best practices. Within this role you will be responsible for reporting to the Senior Stakeholders on a regular basis on programmes such as Operational Risk Events and Key Risk and Control Indicators.  In your capacity you will be responsible for coordinating Internal Control Group reviews (SOX reviews) and Internal Audit reviews across the UK Controllers group, providing oversight during examinations and tracking of issues through to timely remediation.

Balance Sheet reconciliation is a key financial control for our organisation and in your capacity you will be acting as the Reconciliations and Controls lead for the UK with overall responsibility for the reconciliation process including setting standards, interpretation of corporate policy, providing guidance, training, regularly assessing quality and health of reconciliations and reporting and management of the reconcilement process.  You will be responsible for identifying process enhancements that will both strengthen the control environment and improve operational efficiency.

You should have some project management experiences supporting and often driving key Finance initiatives.  You will be using fit for purpose tools to deliver projects and manage stakeholder expectation.

Person specification:

• Qualified accountant

• Financial services experience preferred but not essential.

• Strong risk management, controls and governance experience

• Project management and outsourcing experiences would be desirable.

• Excellent computer skills, in particular MS Power point and MS Excel.

• Exposure to PeopleSoft general ledgers highly desirable. Experience of Hyperion Financial Management consolidation engine highly desirable but not essential.  

Academic/Professional Qualifications

• University degree

• CPA, ACA or ACCA qualified

• Prince II/Six Sigma certified desirable
