Summary of role
This is a rare opportunity to join Sky in this exciting and critical technical leadership role. Responsible for Sky's Data Centre estate, both owned and colocation facilities, the role will drive the strategic direction in design and construction and own the day to day operations across multiple UK and European sites.
Sky is embarking on the implementation of 2 new key data centres, which play a pivotal role in the technology roadmap at Sky.
You will have demonstrable experience in senior stakeholder management and managing staff across multiple locations and matrix organisations, including 3rd party contractors and suppliers.
The Head of Data Center Management will take a proactive and dynamic approach to Data Centre management and maintenance in order to drive efficiencies, green values and service availability and performance.

What You Have detailed Knowledge of:
Cabling types, terminations and standards including fibre, coax, UTP and multi Swing-frame, rack, enclosure and cage containment system
Mechanical Electrical (ME) systems, including cooling, power - utility, generators and UPS, fire detection and suppression, security and Access Control
Data Centre Disaster Recovery, Incident, Problem and change management
Vendor and Service contract negotiation
Data Security and Management legislation
Environmental Green Initiatives, including power, waste management, recycling and safe disposal
Ability to engage property management and facilities management on building related issues
Documentation and process control development and best practice

Key experience and attributes:
Ability to manage and resolve personnel, management and technical issues
Proven in managing rack density, cabling, power and cooling
Manage the implementation of new infrastructures
Multiple vendor and suppler management
A thorough understanding of the technical challenges involved in delivering complex, large-scale systems at the forefront of new technology.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to put forward a case clearly and persuasively to senior manager and Directors within the organisation.
A strong belief in collaboration and teamwork as the key to effective delivery
Required to travel for role, to various UK and Continental locations
