Recruitment salary: £38,451 (salary range £38,451-£42,021)

Reporting to the Director of Faculty, you will be responsible for providing motivational leadership and day to day management of your team and work with the Director of Faculty to ensure that your curriculum area achieves college objectives through delivering outstanding quality of student experience.

Responsible for a designated area of curriculum you will have experience of people management in a similar environment along with experience of data management, curriculum planning and curriculum development. Qualifications at level appropriate to subject area along with a teacher qualification are essential.

Art, Fashion and Design - Art, Fashion Design is a Grade 1 Department with a highly motivated team.  It has excellent progression, achievement and high grades above national average.  The enrichment, community projects and exhibitions both locally and nationally are outstanding.  The range of provision covers Level 1 to Level 4 with blended learning through Entry Level.  The department will be moving to a new purpose built Art block to start the new academic year with designated specialist workshops in 3D, Ceramics, Photography, Print, Painting, Graphics, Fashion, Textiles and includes top of the range Mac facilities.  

Beauty, Hospitality and Catering - The Beauty department has over 300 students studying a wide range of full time courses in Beauty Therapy, Theatrical and Media Make up, Complementary Therapy and Advanced Nails. The Hospitality and Catering department offers many choices from Entry Level 3 to Btec National programmes and boasts modern, industry-standard resources. Both departments are involved with a wide variety of external events showcasing the talents of the students.

Electrical Installation, Plumbing and Gas – The College offers full-time and part-time courses in Electrical Installation and Plumbing from Level 1 to Level 3 and has an excellent reputation for the quality of the teaching and the facilities.

This includes full time courses for school leavers, Apprenticeships in both Plumbing and Electrical Installation and trade specific courses such as Gas safe and 17th Edition. As well as the development of courses around sustainable and renewable energy.

The Department has over 40 teaching and support staff and provides education and training for over 400 students.

Job Requirements:

Responsible for designated area of curriculum, although this may change from time to time depending on college requirements.

Be aware of and follow College policies and procedures, with particular attention to health and safety, safeguarding, risk management, equality and diversity, quality and our values and behaviours. You will be required to attend training as necessary and update own CPD record.

Salary – Head of Department  

The salary range   is £38451-42021 per annum. You will be recruited on the recruitment rate for the role.  You will be paid monthly in arrears, by direct credit transfer.

Hours of Work:

The hours of work for this post will be 37 hours per week. The full time working week is 37 hours. This could include evening and occasional weekend work.

Pension:

You will be eligible to join the Teachers Pension Scheme or Local Government Pension Scheme at a contribution .

Annual Leave:

The holiday year runs from 1 August to 31 July.  Staff may be required to allocate up to 5 days leave for the employer’s closure days.

Management:  Annual leave entitlement is 35 days per annum, plus public holidays.
