About the Client:

Our client is an established medium-sized ME contractor, which offers a personal and detailed service to prestigious clients. Since the 1970s, the company has gained recognition as an expert in the field of building-services construction and project management. They directly employ their own installation engineers and support them with specialised sub-contractors in all appropriate fields. The company's turnover for 2011 is projected as £14m, with individual contract values ranging from £10,000 to circa £4m. Their geographical area of work is predominantly within London and the South East. The company operates in four major markets: health, education, commercial, and high-end residential.

Our client has built a long-established client base of principle contractors and end-user organisations. They wish to appoint a further Mechanical Design Manager to oversee key projects with clients who are highly sensitive to service and quality. The finalist candidate will join an established installation team and embrace the company's team-working and service-driven culture. The project teams manage contracts as diverse as high-end residential property developments to leading hospitals and universities. You will work as part of the design team covering a number of on-going projects within the South of England.

About the Role:

Interpretation of design brief;
Liaise and co-ordinate with client, architect, consultants, and construction team on design issues;
On-going development of design and co-ordination of installation with other subcontractors;
Provision of technical support to site team and client as appropriate;
Programming and sequencing works in conjunction with site managers to co-ordinate with construction programme;
Oversee preparation of in-house manuals and record documentation and integration of specialist;
Handover meetings and preparation of record documentation including assessment and integration of that received from specialist subcontractors;
The successful candidate would be expected to have a good understanding of current design standards and regulations to include building regulations, BREEAM requirements, and be extremely conversant with current day computer design software.

About the Candidate:

Significant MEP building-services experience working for national consultancies;
Ideally, you will be a Chartered Engineer, Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in a building-services-related industry;
Extensive experience of delivering multi-disciplinary and specialist engineering solutions;
Managed Projects in the UK and internationally with an exceptional record of delivery;
First-class managerial and commercial skills.
Position for an associate/associated director to manage a mechanical and electrical engineering team within a multi-discipline practice.
