Head of Design & Construction
The Design Construction team manages the property works for both the commercial and retail areas of the Commonwealth Bank Group. The team also has accountability for business transition into new premises by project managing a myriad of technology providers to ensure our business are operating on day one of their relocation.
The Role:
The Head of Design Construction manages the property works for the portfolio of the Commonwealth Bank, Bankwest and its subsidiaries. This role is a broad role, covering aspects of design, construction, project management and business transition (technology physical relocation).
Responsibilities will include:
- Responsibility for design construction budget greater than $100m per annum
- Key contributor to Group's Property strategy for commercial and retail portfolio
- Lead customer engagement for large scale commercial projects and retail programme
- Leadership of a large team of industry specialists with design, construction, project management and technology expertise
- Accountable for all delivery aspects associated with new developments including Agreement for Lease documentation, lead relationship with Developer and Owners of new and refurbished buildings, and fitout of these buildings
- Design, delivery and governance of the retail branch network programmes (CBA and Bankwest) national program
- Design, delivery and governance of the commercial programme which varies from large scale full building commercial refurbishments and fitouts of single floors
- Management of the business transition activities associated with all design andconstruction works (technology and physical relocations)
- Management of minor works, including ATMs
- Delivery and governance of ATM portfolio
- Lead process excellence and continuous improvement within the team
- Develop and implement the appropriate level of governance and reporting on projects/program for the wider Property business and internal customers
To be successful in your application you must have:
- Proven track record in project management in construction related industry
- Sound knowledge of property processes and systems
- Extensive experience in leading multi-discipline teams with direct line management responsibility
- Demonstrated experience in influencing and managing stakeholders at all levels
- Strong technical skills in design and construction; industry based experience
- Excellent leadership skills
- Extensive experience in the management of property projects for large organisations
- Highly developed negotiation skills
- Extensive experience in management and administration of contracts
- Solid experience in managing employee teams and external service providers
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications
