Job Description

• To provide thought leadership on Employee Relations (ER) policies, practices and processes across Region
• To actively reduce the cost and reliance on external legal counsel by providing in-house subject matter expertise
• To work closely with HR Relationship Managers and Group HR Legal to develop products, policies and processes to up-skill line managers in effectively dealing with ER related matters
• To work closely with the HR Relationship Managers to deal with ER related issues, directly managing specific cases as agreed with Head of HR Region/Country (e.g. proactive case management, contractual terms and conditions, performance management, policy development, grievance, disciplinary, restructuring, redundancy, tribunal preparation) across Region/Country
• Develop and maintain key internal relationships with stakeholders

Key Roles Responsibilities

• Provide specialist ER leadership and support to develop effective employee relations strategies that are aligned to business objectives across Region/Country
• Build external networks and remain up to date with legislative change and developments both across Region/Country and be viewed both internally and externally as an expert in the ER field
• Ensure that the Bank adheres to all local employment practices, policies and legislative requirements across Region/Country, in addition to being responsible for all union activity in the region.
• Liaison to global colleagues for complex Region/Country labor cases.
• Responsible for logging, tracking and documenting ER cases management as well as conduit to global ER team representing the Americas.
• Responsible for resolving and in specific cases managing end to end, all complex employee relations cases (e.g. redundancies, grievances, disciplinaries, etc)
• Streamline processes for managing ER administration, in particular ensure standard documentation is used,
• Support line managers HR on the interpretation of local employment practices and legal requirements
• Proactively update HRRMs and line managers on recent employment law cases and future legislative changes and developments across Region/Country
• Develop value added education programmes for HRRMs line managers to deal with critical ER related issues
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel on all ER related matters

Qualifications Skills

• Qualified Employment Lawyer - 5-7 years experience
• Demonstrable record of experience within a matrix organization, across a range of Employment relations / labor activities
• Skilled employee relations professional within Region/Country an experience particularly in relation to working within the mulit-state and federal jurisdictions. Global LAR labor experiences an A++.
• Commercially astute
• Ability to manage conflicting and demanding internal and external stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• General IT/MS Office skills (i.e Word, Excel, etc), highly organized.
