Head of EU Liquidity Management recruitment

Cash Management has primary responsibility for visibility, control and governance of all cash activities across the global Morgan Stanley franchise. With regional hubs located in Asia Pacific, EMEA and Americas, Cash Management comprises c. 103 heads, a third of which are located in EMEA (London and Glasgow).

Operating in the sense of a true Firm-wide global Utility, Cash Management comprises four core functional business lines to include:

- Liquidity Management (Funding)
- Trade Support Controls
- Cash Transaction Services (Disburse)
- Liquidity Risk Operations (LRO)

In addition, each core line is supported by two non-core operational teams:

- Payment Governance
- Business Risk Management

This role, based in London will require the selected candidate to:

(i) deliver robust day to day management of our European Liquidity Management team, and
(ii) support the EU Head of Cash Management deliver regional and global change objectives.

The role comprises various key elements to include;

• Delivery of our core funding business to include the accurate forecasting of entity and the managing of intra-day liquidity requirements, including real time cash balances;
• Guardianship of the funding teams IT platform ensuring the accuracy and transparency of account data;
• Developing and maintaining relationships with Cash Management stakeholders. Significant emphasis is placed on the candidates ability to establish and maintain Firm-wide relationships in order to deliver our core function/s and change agenda;
• People development – we place significant emphasis on continuity planning, the success of which is dependent upon actively developing our people;
• Active participation in global functional committees, designed to deliver a robust global governance structure around core business lines;
• Risk ownership – a comprehensive suite of risk management tools are used to identify and actively manage risk across our business. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate complete ownership of our risk management agenda.

Skills and experience required:

• Proven cash management experience, ideally having operated in a funding capacity (or similar);
• An intrinsic ability to identify priorities and deliver outputs on time to a consistently high standard;
• Risk management – to own and mitigate risk by full utilisation of our ‘toolkit’;
• A proven ability to manage people and motivate teams;
• The ability to prepare written reports to a high professional standard alongside effective communication skills. The ability to communicate clearly and decisively to colleagues and stakeholders will be a key candidate attribute;
• An ability to think commercially, to challenge the status quo and help lead the business towards delivering its agenda;
• Experience working with Regulators, for example in the interpretation and analysis of information requests, data mining, report preparation and presentations;
• A desire to develop their career at Morgan Stanley by demonstrating willingness over time, to develop their role and acquire new responsibilities. It is envisaged this may include taking lead responsibility (from time to time) for the delivery of key projects.
