Head of Finance / Financial Services recruitment
The Role: A new role of Head of Finance has opened up at Guardian Managers (UK) Limited ("Guardian"). Following a restructure, this role will be positioned as an integral part of the Senior Management Team, providing direct support to the CEO.
Our Company: Guardian is an FSA regulated manager overseeing an international portfolio of specialist investments, including Real Estate, Fixed Income, Multi-Strategy and Investment Advisory.
The Opportunity: This is a hands-on management role reporting to the CEO, and working closely with a highly experienced and successful investment team of Directors and Portfolio Managers. Based in London, Docklands, you will be primarily expected to lead the finance team and ensure that the team performs its core functions efficiently.
Additionally, you will be required to play a key role across the business by: participating as a member of 3 distinct Investment Committees; overseeing transactional activity; supervising investment operations (including Custodians, Fund Administrators, Systems, Reporting, AML etc.), managing third-party relationships and negotiations (banks, auditors etc.), and performing other relevant management functions.
Required Skills and Experience: We are looking for a current or an "up and coming" Finance Director, who is ambitious and looking to be part of a successful entrepreneurial business. The right candidate will be a finance/investment professional who is hungry to achieve further success and readily capable of demonstrating clear value-adding skills in a fast moving environment. Required attributes include:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in an investment or banking environment, preferably across Europe
- Professional ACA/ACCA status - minimum 6 years' PQE; alternatively a high ranking MBA in Finance
- Proven hands-on management experience leading a finance team
- Sound grasp of investment fundamentals (relevant asset classes) and the macroeconomic context
- Highly computer literate, with advanced spreadsheet-based skills and report writing skills
- A good grasp of middle and back office processes
- Self-motivated and strong character, with the ability to work with great accuracy under pressure
- Strong communication skills, able to influence others and an effective team player
- Possess a disciplined approach to delivering results ahead of time, without close supervision
- An enthusiastic/engaging personality capable of cultivating strong relationships (internal and external)
- Ready to undertake routine international travel, even at short notice
- For the avoidance of doubt, the right candidate shall be results oriented and not a clock-watcher
Academic Background: Strong and relevant degree; Finance MBA/MSc education preferred.
Languages: Fluent English a prerequisite; European languages (e.g. German, Polish etc.) an advantage.
Remuneration: Management package, includes a highly competitive base salary + staff benefits + training allowance AND significant discretionary annual bonus potential (depending on value add skills, experience and performance).
