Amazon seeks a Head of Finance for North America Operations to lead a rapidly growing Operations Finance team (Fulfillment, Supply Chain and Transportation) and provide strong controllership and leadership to the Operations Organization. Key Strategic Objectives As senior member of the Management Team, this position provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the organization has the proper financial and operational controls, the necessary administrative and reporting procedures, and the required information technology and systems in place to effectively grow the organization, ensure financial strength, and operating efficiency. The role has primary PL responsibility for over $5B and requires partnering with many internal teams (Operations, Transportation, Supply Chain, Accounting, Retail Finance, Accounts Payable, Engineering, Real Estate, Treasury and IT) to drive performance and simultaneously build a world class Operations Finance team. This candidate will be responsible for the development of the North America operations financial management strategy and contribute to the development of the organizationrsquo;s strategic goals including driving cost-out. He/she will lead the operational planning process, interacting with Vice Presidents within Finance and Operations. The successful candidate will drive new insights into key financial and operational performance drivers and become a trusted leader within the organization. This candidate will be a strong and inspirational leader who has a proven track record for hiring, developing and retaining the best talent. Focus and Deliverables for first 12 Months A key focus will be on building a strong, sustainable organization (including standard and scalable processes) which includes deep bench strength (demonstrated by a record of development of strong successors in their former companies) . In addition, the right individual will have solid business judgment, strong controllership focus, accounting strength and the capability to drive a fast paced organization to the right results with a focused and pragmatic approach to the business. They will be able to clearly articulate changes in the financial structure and present to senior management (including the CFO and CEO) as well as regional partners within North America Operations. This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance executive with operational experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management to join in a high-growth, customer obsessive organization. Key Responsibilities: Partner with Operations and Retail to drive continuous improvement in financial and operational performance. Lead the annual operational planning process and development of the three year strategic plan. Drive variance analysis against budgets for the network, identify risks and opportunities. Ensure timely and accurate metrics and forecasts are created and maintained. Partner with Retail, IT, Fulfillment teams to drive cost out and optimal cross functional decisions that maximize Amazon's long term free cash flow. Identify and develop key business opportunities and drive efficiency while balancing customer promise. Support network topology planning which includes acquisition analysis, integration and expansion projects for new business initiatives and third-party agreements. Lead and develop the fulfillment network finance team of over 100 finance professionals located throughout North America. The successful candidate may also oversee the Director of Finance for Transportation and Supply Chain. Basic Qualifications Educational Requirements BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or similar degree. MBA from a highly regarded business school is preferred Experience At least 7-10 years of large corporate finance experience with heavy emphasis on analytics and directing the work of other professionals. Results-oriented, highly energetic, dynamic individual with hands-on mentality. Advanced analytical skills and the ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture. Strong skills in accessing and using analytical tools, advanced computer literacy. Ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization. Industry experience in e-commerce, distribution, retail, etc. Leadership experience in an international environment. Demonstrated experience of successfully driving complex and milestone driven projects. Demonstrated ability to deal with adversity and rapidly changing operating conditions while still delivering to expectations.
