Head of Financial Modelling

Requirements

Financial models underpin a number of key business management decisions and are used in product pricing, our Risk Appetite Framework, credit cut -offs, strategic trade-off decisions, price elasticity, rolling forecasting, stress testing, budgeting and investment appraisals. They are also essential for internal and external reporting. Consequently models are pivotal to driving the strategic direction
The modelling team therefore has a pivotal role to play in the management, development and maintenance of these models whilst ensuring that best practices are shared across all areas of Finance.

Responsibilities

Leads the design, develop and implement robust financial models ensures models meet regulatory standards and requirements.
Active and effective change management through successful design, development and delivery of key model related enhancements the will improve business capabilities.
Work effectively with key business senior stakeholders within business units and cross divisionally.
Proactively builds collaborative relationships with key business senior managers
Provide actionable management information covering all aspects of model performance.
To report on and support the development maintenance of Risk Appetite across all products segments portfolios whilst ensuring compliance with any Group parameters.
To be fully conversant with the associated legal / regulatory requirements and ensure that all models owned by Finance meets requirements.
Through the effective management of a team of Financial Modellers delivers all milestones on plan to within agreed dates, budget and quality standards.

The Individual

Experience:

Requires a clear understanding of leading edge statistical modelling and portfolio analysis techniques
In depth experience of the development and practical application of statistical models
Relationship management especially senior stakeholder management
Financial Services experience preferred
Multi level communication and influencing ability

Technical Skills:

SME on modelling and portfolio analysis
Experience of using resource management tools and practices
Working knowledge of project / programme management methodologies
Significant prior experience of large data sets analysis/manipulation using SAS/SQL programming or equivalent software
