Head of Fixed Income Research recruitment
The purpose of the position is to lead a significant portion of Russell's manager research effort, directing the integration of the global research team. The Head of Research supervises Research Analysts and Senior Research Analysts and conducts research. Additional focus of this position include providing valuable perspective on a wide variety of investment topics to the broader manager research team, and contributing with a large amount of influence to the thinking that develops Russell's multi-manager fund structures to our Institutional clients and internal stakeholders.
This position can be located in either Seattle or London.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
- Manage the research team in a manner that leads to investment excellence.
- Training and mentoring research analysts of all levels and providing guidance on analysis documentation produced by team members.
- Analysis of money managers, possibly including rank ownership.
- Representing the asset class to internal and external stakeholders, and providing thought leadership that leads to innovation.
- Leading research projects and/or personnel management initiatives for the benefit of the broader IMR group.
- Timely, high quality documentation of manager research.
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
- Bachelors Degree required, Masters in Management or Finance Preferred.
- 8+ years of investment industry experience specifically in Fixed Income - fund of funds, consulting, large pension plan.
- Experience as a research analyst or portfolio manager with full accountability for manager ranking decisions and/or multi-manager fund decisions.
- Demonstrated management experience, leading a team of investment professionals.
- Success in influencing investment outcomes with clients and targeted audiences.
- Experience in investment thought leadership demonstrated through research papers, industry conferences or other media opportunities.
- Excellent management and interpersonal skills including coaching and developing associates.
- Deep insight into the success factors and pitfalls of fixed income asset management within multiple investment styles or categories.
- Thorough knowledge and appropriate skepticism related to financial theories, tools, quantitative methodologies (risk).
- Proven ability to represent the firm externally to clients, prospects, managers, media.
- Proven track record of investment decisions that led to favorable performance.
- Demonstrated ability to improve the level of analysis and dialogue on an investment team.
