Opportunity

The role is a management role looking after Fund Managers' Assistants supporting Fund Managers. The primary function of the role is to provide a layer of operational control for the Fund Managers, primarily around the transactional process, including trade generation, compliance monitoring, cashflow monitoring and corporate actions. The role further encompasses relationships with key supporting areas such as Investment Operations, IT, Business Change, Retail (Distribution), Compliance, Audit and Risk.

Key responsibilities

-To manage the Equity and Retail Fixed Income FMA Teams providing cover where necessary, including responsibility for appraisals, goal setting and training and development.
-Oversee, on a daily basis, the transactional processes of the team, ensuring that controls are operating effectively.
-To ensure Front Office transactional processes, procedures, and risks and controls are properly implemented, maintained, communicated and trained in order to minimise the risk of investment management losses. This includes where such processes are carried out by Fund Managers.
-Ensure that the Fund Managers are properly supported in managing the portfolios. This might include small research projects and valuation screening.
-To manage relationships with service providers (internal and external) and dependent departments (in relation to Fund Management) at the day to day level.
-To ensure Fund Managers are adequately represented on projects impacting the area (including sponsorship, board membership as appropriate)
-To carry out ad hoc tasks as identified by the Business Management Team or Fund Managers.

*Strong technical awareness, notably the ability to understand the role of systems in the transactional process.

Knowledge/Experience
*Proven management experience.
*Knowledge of the workings of an asset management business, particularly fund management disciplines and the transactional lifecycle
*Knowledge of multiple asset classes including, equities, bonds and derivatives inclusive of corporate actions on those asset classes
*Knowledge of the regulatory environment (UCITS experience preferable)
*Involvement in identification of risks and the application of subsequent procedures, processes and controls.
*Experience of directly supporting Fund Managers is preferable.
*Minimum IMC qualified or equivalent.
