Head of Institutional Sales & Marketing – West Coast High Yield Manager recruitment

If hired in this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the firm's sales and marketing efforts. Establish new consultant and plan sponsor relationships and manage the firm's key relationships with its global investor base, which include corporate and public pensions, endowments, foundations, high net worth individuals, wealth advisors, pension and other investment consultants. Develop and implement strategies to attract new clients. Provide ongoing client services support to consultants, plan sponsors and clients. Develop and implement strategies for product development. Active involvement in the production and distribution of the firm's marketing materials. High yield experience a big "plus".

Responsibilities:

- Drive the firm's institutional marketing and consultant relationship business development efforts. Analyze the institutional business, develop strategic plan and set direction to increase AUM and profitability by strengthening the firm's presence, product knowledge and level of search activity within the Plan Sponsor and Consultant channel.

- Strategic Plans should include a plan leveraging existing relationships you personally bring and a methodical cold calling initiative to establish new relationships with Plan Sponsors and Pension Consultants. 

- Proactively develop and maintain Consultant relationships. Develop and institutionalize knowledge of the manager search and selection process, and preferred communication for each Consultant.

- Regularly monitor relationships for early warning signals indicating concerns and opportunities.

- Be aware of and actively pursue relevant searches that are being conducted by Plan S sponsors and their Consultants. Understand, analyze and assess needs and opportunities, while considering the competitive situation.

- Understand key competitors

- Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge about the firm's products

- Work closely with the firm's investment professionals to provide insight from Consultants and Plan Sponsors.

The ideal candidate will obtain the following qualifications:

- A minimum of ten years’ experience in the financial services industry with a substantial portion of it in investment management business development and/or Consultant Relationship Management.

- In-depth High Yield product knowledge

- Demonstrated sales success with Consultants and Plan Sponsors

- Proven, successful track record of closing new business - new mandates and cross selling.

- Knowledge base/understanding of RFP writing and consultant database reporting

- A resourceful, self-starting, tenacious and entrepreneurial personality. A strong business sense and work ethic

- Polished with superior communication, presentation, marketing and solid sales skills

- An ability to set personal goals and meet them with regards to prospecting for new relationships

- The ability to take direction, but work largely independently

- A client-focused consultative philosophy and relationship orientation

- A high level of energy and desire to travel extensively

- Personal maturity and stature within the investment community

Education/Certifications: Strong academic credentials including a bachelor's degree; MBA and/or CFA a plus.
