Head of Investments Reporting, Systems and Controls recruitment

Role responsibilities:

• Responsible for ensuring all Investment and Treasury assets and dealing activity are recorded and valued accurately, correctly classified, and posted on a timely basis into the accounting systems.
• Ensuring the Investment and Treasury team are aware fully of the accounting implications arising from all activity undertaken (e.g. realised gains/losses, upcoming changes in accounting standards).
• To be the key interface into other Insurance accounting teams.
• To lead the production of robust investment income forecasts.
• To ensure actual income is tracked monthly throughout the year versus forecast.
• To highlight adverse deviations from forecast and galvanise activity to determine corrective actions available.
• Develop, implement and oversee a robust controls framework underpinning all Investment and Treasury activity.  The framework must ensure:

o A robust, up-to-date policy and procedures framework is maintained and adhered to,
o Appropriate segregation between key activities (e.g. dealing, recording and settlements),
o Limits are set, monitored and reported on (e.g. authorised credit exposure limits, capital constraints).

• Manage the preparation and timely delivery of all reporting issued by Investment and Treasury, in particular:

o A weekly and monthly set of management reports viewed as best in class regarding content, insights provided. and focus on decisions required,
o Provision of data and analysis to support statutory reporting and ad hoc requests from other internal and external parties (e.g rating agencies).

• Manage the contractual and operational relationships with key service providers and external fund managers. 

• Responsible for ensuring contractual frameworks up-to-date and robust. 
• Support the Director of Investment and Treasury in all related fee negotiations.
• Develop, test and maintain a business continuity plan to mitigate the time Investment and Treasury is not able to operate due to scenarios out of its control.
• Develop, manage and lead a team of three direct reports.  Build strong relationships with other functions, in particular, financial reporting, risk, audit.
• Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to the role, in line with the Insurance risk framework

Experience Required:

• Knowledge of Insurance Industry.
• A strong background in Investment and Treasury Accounting.
• Management experience.
• Accounting qualification.
• Budgeting and Forecasting.
• Investment Accounting knowledge required.
• Excellent client management skills.
• Strong Vendor management disciplines.

Must Have:

Experience accounting for assets in an insurance company and investment income forecasting MI reporting.
