Head of Management Assurance recruitment

Please note: this role can be based in London or the north of England, however our clients preference is for the role to be based in Scotland.

Our client, part of a global banking group, seeks an accomplished risk management professional to take up the position of Head of Management Assurance to deliver a robust management assurance framework and structure across all risk types.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, Operations and IT, you will offer support and direction to the senior leadership team, ensuring that the business unit’s activities comply with regulation, policy and good practice, that executive decision-making is well informed and that stakeholders are kept properly appraised of all regulatory matters.

To achieve this you will need to define a strong management assurance framework and structure; ensure that appropriate policies and standards are designed, developed and embedded to retain awareness across the business unit; and ensure regulatory responsibilities are maintained and balanced. You will be expected to offer effective, robust and insightful challenge to senior management and will be the FSA approved person for the business unit. In addition, you will be responsible for the leadership, motivation, mentoring and retention of a team of risk professionals.

A key requirement of this role is the need to interpret and explain complex material, findings or recommendations and to prepare and present detailed reports and presentations on key assurance and risk management issues to a range of audiences. At the same time, you will play a key role in developing, directing and supporting the ‘first line of defence’ with its management assurance and risk management responsibilities and you will provide a key link to the second line oversight functions.

You must be highly regarded by your peers as an intelligent, knowledgeable leader with a broad range of risk management experience and a sound understanding of risk and control frameworks and management assurance. You will also possess the gravitas and expertise to report to, and liaise effectively with, the FSA and will become a key influencer on the review and development of best practice and the creation of a strong risk management culture.

This role can be based in various locations throughout the UK.
