Head of Market Risk (ALM) Singapore, Mauritius & Brunei recruitment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership, set direction and oversee the market risk monitoring
function in area of responsibility.
• Assist with control and supervision of the management of market risks
which include the approval of limits, excesses and costs
• Develop proactive engagement with business in pursuit of balanced risk /
return positions via discussions on market, liquidity and applicable
trading risk limits
.
• Provide analysis of risk exposures, market commentaries, analysis of
variances
etc to Regional and Group Market Risk as and when required.
• Develop proactive engagement with country ALCO and Risk Committee
in pursuit of sustainable and profitable balance sheet growth.
• Manage the local Group Market Risk team independently from the business
and ensure that the function is adequately resourced with an appropriate
number of competent staff.
• Ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and
procedures
in place. Monitor the operation of such procedures and controls
and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in
products, systems, policy and regulations.
• Maintain appropriate relationships with Regulators and Rating agencies and
liaise with internal / external auditors.
• Prepare / review the country-level capital calculations.
• Review and sign off for Group Market Risk
• Set local subsidiary and / or regulatory limits via the relevant local risk
committee, after due consultation with the relevant global product risk teams
and monitor such limits.
Ownership of onshore portfolios and relevant onshore rates.
• Ensure Market Risk in area of responsibility operates within the policies,
procedures and standards established for the Group.
• Maintain framework of procedures for monitoring, management and
reporting of operational risk. Ensure that any board and senior management
meetings are attended and market risk issues are addressed.
Establish and maintain framework for Group's management and
contingency planning of Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management and Business
Continuity for Group Risk functions in area of responsibility.


KEY CRITERIA:

8 to 10 years experience with proven track record in achieving challenging
performance objectives.
• Professional qualification in risk management, accounting and / or finance.
• Self-motivated, energetic and result oriented.
• Good knowledge of balance sheet management and other risk
management concepts.

• Excellent analytical skills and sound judgement in a rapidly changing and
dynamic environment.
• Good business acumen and multicultural sensitivity.
• Possess strong leadership qualities.
• Willingness and ability to work and deliver on tight/challenging deadlines.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of market, liquidity and applicable
trading risk models and methodologies, regulations and guidelines,
workings of financial markets and risk management system
platforms

• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Office, MS Access, VBA etc.
