Head of MI and Data Governance, Compliance
HSBC are looking for someone who will manage a portfolio of high profile programmes across Risk and Finance. This is a senior level position responsible for the implementation of the HSBC and Global Risk Data Strategy across the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) and Regulatory Compliance (RC) functions, as well as the design and delivery of standardized, focused, effective management information for both functions at a global, regional and local level. In addition there is a need to drive the implementation of an efficient operating model for the delivery of MI.
In this context the scope of MI would include:
- Board reports
- Audit reports
- Regulator updates
- Regional / Business / Country reports
- Functional reporting (Internal FCC and RC reports for running the department)
The candidate will need to be able to operate at multiple levels of the organisation; working with senior executives to ensure alignment and buy-in, as well as sponsoring specific projects and leading a dedicated team.
From a MI perspective the individual will:
- Align MI to meet the needs of the governance framework over the FCC and RC functions, and the business governance framework across HSBC where compliance reporting is required, e.g. Board meetings, Global Business Excos, Risk Management Committees, Audit Committees etc.
- Deliver focused reporting relating to the performance for the FCC and RC functions, providing timely analysis and interpretation of Risk strategic KPIs as required
- Establish an operating model for the effective and efficient delivery of standardized MI across FCC and RC functions at a global, regional and local level
- Pro-actively and re-actively satisfy the Risk information requirements of stakeholders including the Global Heads of FCC and RC, HSBC Holdings plc Board and other legal entity boards, Global Business, Risk and Audit Committees, the FCC RC COO, and external parties where required.
- Lead all interactions and dealings with HSBC internal control functions and external regulatory bodies in conjunction with data quality issues
From a Data Governance perspective the individual will:
- Identify the key data required to run the FCC and RC functions, identify the key data issues (i.e. ‘burning platform’) which should provide the focus for a data management and improvement programme
- Create and lead a data organisation and put in place a governance structure to move the data agenda forward globally, ensuring that initiatives resolve key business-led data issues, partnering with Software and Change Delivery where necessary for execution
- Lead specific projects aimed at taking the data agenda forward and provide oversight / input into all data-related projects in Europe Risk, to ensure alignment with the HSBC and Global Risk data strategy
- Represent FCC and RC at the Global Risk Data Strategy Forum. Liaise with data experts across the organisation, feeding into the HSBC and Global Risk data strategy, identifying requirements and escalating issues to the Global Risk CDO as required.
