Where you will work
Asset Optimization and Trading (AOT) is the Business Division where all Asset Optimization and Trading activities are centralized for the Vattenfall Group, also known as Vattenfall Energy Trading (VET). Our activities are multi-site located across Europe with more than 600 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark and Poland. We trade the full range of energy commodities such as electricity, gas, oil, coal, freight, renewable energies and emissions, take responsibility for a diversified sourcing of power, fuels and carbon credits and optimise the running and hedging of Vattenfall’s generation assets. These efforts are the basis for maximum profitability and continuous business growth.
For our office in Warsaw we are looking for a:
Head of Origination
What you will do
From day to day you will have several tasks and responsibilities.
Concerning the responsibilities, please consider the following. You will set up a dedicated Origination team of professional originators in Warsaw, Poland with activities in whole CEE market. The main task will be to lead Origination team in exploring market opportunities and developing a broad deal funnel. You will focus on wholesale electricity, gas and renewable energy markets. Mainly, you will represent Polish Origination team activities in overall Vattenfall organisation. Finally, you will manage interface with CEE trading activities in Hamburg.
Besides you responsibilities, you will have certain tasks. You main task will be to lead origination team in establishing a profitable transactional base in Poland and CEE. You will develop new business in wholesale electricity, gas and renewable energy markets in line with Vattenfall’s strategy. You are meant to identify and create specific transaction opportunities. Equally, you are to originate valuable stand alone transactions. You will lead the deal process from beginning to end, including liaison with all internal stakeholders. Equally, you will crate, develop and maintain strong counterparty relationships. Finally, your last task is to share market knowledge and social network with team and organization
What we are looking for
Hard skills
- At least 5 years’ professional transactional experience in the utilities/energy sector (preferably in both power and gas)
- Relevant network in Poland and overall CEE market
- Ability to show leadership and initiative in developing new business areas
- Mother tongue/fluency in Polish
- High standard of written and spoken English
- An academic degree within the relevant area such as Economics, Finance or Engineering
- Work experience within a large and complex organisation will be considered as a merit

You have excellent leadership skills and a high level of personal maturity. You are able to work independently, are a skilled communicator and truly believe that cooperation with others makes better results. You have an analytical mind-set and the ability to find creative solutions in complex matters. You see what has to be done and have the driving force to make it happen.
