Head of Portfolio Analysis – Business Banking recruitment
The Client:
Business Banking sits under the Corporate Banking umbrella and is dedicated to servicing UK clients with annual turnover of between £2m and £25m. The principal focus for the division is to provide relationship based financial services in areas such as Asset Finance, Invoice Finance, Treasury Services and business planning advice to small companies.
Business Banking has classified their strategic business model on two distinct portfolios: Performing and Under-Performing.
The Under-Performing portfolio is comprised of assets that have the potential to be either financially vulnerable or do not represent assets that are in line with the strategic goals of the bank. By making these classifications distinct, the bank has significantly reduced their balance sheet of unwanted assets, mitigated risk to the best of their ability and identified new areas for growth within their existing client base.
To achieve strategic objectives for the portfolio a significant amount of operational processing is required to extract portfolio data on which key strategic decisions will be made. The work requires intelligent scoping and strong delivery.
The Role:
Supporting the Head of Portfolio Analytics, you will be responsible for all aspects of Business Banking’s Portfolio Analysis. You will also ensure that portfolio data and analysis is available to inform and support key decisions with regard to the Under-Performing portfolio's operations and strategy:
Responsibilities:
1) Leading a team of 3 Analysts initially (with room to grow further) you will be responsible for:
- Identification of data source
- Implement appropriate governance
- Data extraction
- Data collation
- Data cleanup and remediation
- Due Diligence and data evidencing
- Data analysis
- Data maintenance and storage
- Analysis delivery
2) Ensuring Portfolio Analytics reporting requirements are supported by the business processes in Corporate Banking and seeking to manage process and technology change in this regard.
3) Manage the Under-Performing portfolio's dependencies within the division, for example data migration to support a portfolio sale or restructuring.
Ultimately the role is responsible for promoting a spirit of continuous improvement across the division and with particular regard to balance sheet and asset management capability.
The role will report to the Head of Portfolio Analytics - Corporate Banking
The Individual
The candidate must have management experience of :
• Detailed understanding of SAS software and data management technology operations including MI reporting, database integration workflow
• Credit risk management
• Change management leading projects across functions and business divisions
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills and be able to evidence leadership and issue resolution in a multiple stakeholder environment
• Flexibility and tenacity to manage dependencies across multiple owners with varying levels of priority between project and business as usual requirements
• Building strong relationships with senior management across Divisions and Group.
• Delivering results in a fast moving, dynamic environment with proven ability to adapt and be responsive to changing customer, sponsor and stakeholder requirements
• Process re-engineering and implementing large-scale change
• Comprehensive knowledge of corporate banking and financial markets
• Corporate risk data analysis
