Role description
The role of Head of Risk Audit will play an integral leadership role in the business, working closely with the plc Board and Audit Committees. As the department number two, you will support the Director of Risk Assurance in ensuring that a new risk assurance framework is implemented in every part of the organisation and champion continuous improvement. You will have responsibilities in the following areas:
Risk Audit Strategy
Developing and maintaining a strategic audit plan to achieve effective cover of all Group risk
Continuously reviewing and improving auditing processes and procedures
Embedding risk management throughout the business
Ensuring that there is proper risk management ownership by business heads
Validating that the risk management process is functioning in each business; that risks are identified and effectively managed; and that planned work on assurance over controls is undertaken
Team leadership
Responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of a risk-based audit programme and associated reporting through management of a professional risk and internal audit team
Full responsibility for managing three internal auditors, including their career development
The successful candidate should meet the following criteria:
Prior experience in a senior risk and audit role in a large complex organisation, where you have demonstrated your excellent resource planning and management skills
Exceptional influencing and communication skills used at a strategic level with partners your ability to ensure buy-in to the new risk assurance framework with individuals at all levels and across all functions is critical
A focus on results and delivery
A fundamental belief that audit and risk activities are commercially beneficial rather than a necessary evil
An ability to both challenge and mentor an ambitious team
Qualified accountant or risk management professional
The financial package on offer for this role is a basic salary in the range 55,000 to 65,000 plus a car allowance and generous short-term incentive plan and employer contributions to the pension scheme.
