Head of Risk Management Asia Pacific – Leading Global Asset Management Company recruitment

The Head of Risk Management will be responsible for ensuring the Asia region manages all types of risk within agreed statements of risk appetite, ensuring compliance with corporate standards through embedding effective, appropriately risk-based policies, procedures and methodologies in support of the risk and governance framework and ensuring the risk function is effectively and appropriately organised to enable consistent, forward looking and independently-minded risk management activity. The incumbent will provide risk advice for key strategic business change projects including major transition changes, provide oversight of the firm’s systems and controls, represent and promote the importance of robust and appropriate internal controls to regional senior management, advise on the response the region and businesses should take to key risk and regulatory issues and manage the aggregation and assessment of risk (present and future) throughout the Asia region. The jobholder will work closely with Regional Head of Compliance to develop the annual compliance surveillance plan, complete surveillance plan throughout the year, ensuring all internal policies and procedures are adhered to and suggest changes to the CRO where appropriate. The Head of Risk Management will additionally coordinate and provide effective, timely and succinct reporting to the relevant Risk and Governance Committees on risk profile, including risk appetite and tolerance, ensuring the risks inherent in the Asian business strategy are consistent with global risk appetite and tolerance, ensure the business is alerted of any strategy or plans that exceed these levels to provide for effective challenge and adequacy of management action and ensure that emerging risk management is a foundation of risk capability.

The successful candidate will be a degree holder, ideally with a post-graduate degree and relevant industry qualifications (such as FRM and CFA), with at least 10 years experience. Applicants will need to possess a solid knowledge and understanding of asset management and have a firm grasp on processes and controls. Candidates will also need to have exceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills as the jobholder will need to interact on a daily basis with senior management in Asia and globally. Candidates from private banking, wealth management and investment banks will also be considered.
