About the role
The overarching objective for this role is to develop and continue to cultivate a strong Credit Risk environment within the bank and to ensure credit risks are well managed. Main responsibility is for the overall management and direction of the credit risk function, with additional responsibility to oversee Operational Risk and IT Risk Management. The incumbent is to ensure conformance to the bank's risk goal and pricing criteria and to evaluate various risks for the bank's business activities and develop appropriate risk management mechanisms.
Main duties
- Direct credit risk management staff in the development and maintenance of financial background information, as well as specific counterparty or client credit analysis process.
- Lead and manage the Hong Kong Risk Management unit, providing guidance, supervision, oversee/review and ensure efficient credit proposals, internal processes and control exist.
- Responsible for overall management of the Hong Kong credit portfolio with aim to minimize loan provision and losses.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with group policies and local regulatory guidelines.
- Set and draft new credit policies as required and provide operational guidance to internal users on the new requirements.
- Continually train risk staff and RMs on Credit related matters so as to enforce a strong Credit Risk environment.
- Remain informed about legal, reputation, economic and other developments in all relevant countries for the bank to estimate their impact on credit profile and take pre emptive and mitigating measures.
- Provide input to IT projects to automate when it makes sense.
- Review current policies and operational guidance for loans to operating companies, residential and commercial Real estate, acceptance of CP risk, design and implement the PB Basel 2 model.
- Be involved in the approval of special and large lending lines which may deviate from the policy.
Competencies required
- Sufficient intellectual and organizational flexibility coupled with enough credit experience.
- Tertiary education
- Exceptional people management skills.
- Ability to lead and manage projects
- 8-10 years relevant experience in managing credit risk for wealth management.
- Have ambition and correct risk mentality.
- Strong grounding of personal values.
