Head of Secured Underwriting recruitment

Our client, a leading global bank, seeks an experienced risk management professional for the role of Head of Secured Underwriting, reporting to the Director for Credit Decisioning.

The main purpose of the role is to transform the existing Secured Underwriting Unit into an industry leading function, ensuring that all underwriting sites exceed agreed service levels; remain in line with risk appetite and operational cost constraints; offer a favourable customer experience; adhere to all regulatory requirements and have the agility to manage changing volumes.

With approximately 200 FTE reports, the position carries responsibility for the leadership of a major change programme to clearly define and drive change within the function across all elements of the operating model - processes, systems, controls, people and organisational design.

You must have experience of operational management and leadership across multiple sites, with expertise in underwriting and the secured lending / mortgages sector.  You will need to be a highly competent change agent and stakeholder manager with a proven ability to influence and drive forward initiatives outside of your own direct reporting line. Your career history should include evidence of your ability to lead and drive functions during periods of continuous improvement whilst retaining operational effectiveness, and also to contribute to overall team goals, providing input into strategic objectives for the Credit Decisioning function.

This is an exceptional and high profile opportunity to join a major international banking group and demonstrate your ability to manage a sizable underwriting unit through challenging and dynamic business conditions, with the prospect of leading, influencing and changing the future strategy of the Bank.

Flexibility is offered on role location, however regular travel to the various sites throughout the UK is expected, as is time spent at the Bank’s headquarters in London.
