Head of Systems Delivery – Corporate Functions

Global Financial Services Organisation operating in 160 countries requires a Head of Systems Delivery – Corporate Functions. This is an exciting Greenfield opportunity where you will be joining a new CIO delivery team who are embarking on the journey together.

Reporting into the Head of Technology Europe, this is a senior management delivery role within the CIO Delivery Europe leadership team.

You will have accountability for the IT business engagement between CIO Europe and the leadership team of the business function(s) to build trusted effective working relationships and understanding of the business function(s) long term strategy.

Management of a portfolio of programmes/projects between up to circa $20 million - supporting 26 countries in Europe.

Leading a variable-size delivery team, appropriately resourced to meet IT programme demand and aligned to business function portfolio annual budget. This may include contract and/or vendor staff within a Shared Services IT support model

The role requires a collaborative approach with the business functions leadership team to discuss and understand the current and longer-term strategies of both the business function and IT, with the goal of agreed project prioritisation and delivery that meets these strategies.

Provides thought leadership to the business function leadership team and senior managers, on IT options (solutions and delivery approaches) to deliver business strategic aims through effective use of IT services, engaging with delivery leads across the organisation as appropriate.

Key responsibilities

Accountable for leading the portfolio of IT projects agreed and prioritised with the business function
Accountable for the management and maintenance of the IT project portfolio for the business function.
Responsible for working with the leadership team to participate in the definition of solutions, delivery and alignment to business and IT strategies.
Responsible for the communication of the CIO vision and strategy for both the function and IT solutions to the business function.
To be the point of contact for queries around the level of IT service or project delivery Responsible for the implementation of the CIO and Delivery functions vision and goals.
Responsible for supporting the IT relationship with 3rd Party Suppliers

Leadership skills:
Proven ability to build relationships with senior business managers and to communicate business strategy to IT, in respect of fit to IT strategies and delivery plans.

Strong IT delivery management experience of leading and developing a team of diverse staff on an assignment basis, across multiple disciplines.  

Experience of delivering large scale compliance/regulatory programmes

Strong Talent and people Management skills and experience of direction setting and organisational development

The ability to understand and translate IT and business vision, to set goals required to develop an accountable and collaborative environment within which the quality of delivery clear and understood

Proven experience of working at a senior level in IT, working closely with business and IT partners (including external suppliers) within an international environment.

Proven track record in managing a portfolio of programmes and projects, and the ability to initiate and lead change at a corporate level

Technical skills

Proven delivery track record of working closely with senior business teams - leading major projects.

Experience of leading strategic change programmes including use of 3rd party suppliers across multiple platforms.

Demonstrated technical leadership in software development, systems integration, infrastructure delivery and provision of IT support services across applications / infrastructure

Proven vendor management skills.

Proven experience of budgeting financial control at departmental level or higher

Experience within financial services background or in process / transaction led business.

Preferably PMI and ITIL accredited

Bachelor or Masters Degree in computer science /engineering / business related field with a proven track record of continuous skill development.
