Head of Technical, Group Insurance recruitment

The Group’s Insurance Head Office exists to provide functional leadership, strategic direction, oversight, co-ordination, monitoring and control of the Group’s insurance businesses worldwide. Insurance is one of the Group’s key product lines.
Reporting to the CFO, Group Insurance, the key purpose of the role is to provide leadership to Group Insurance on both IASB and Regulatory developments impacting insurance entities. The role holder will also act as the lead IHO technical finance contact on all other IHO and/or Group lead technical accounting/ regulatory projects. This will include responsibility for implementation of IFRS 4 Phase II. The role will further be responsible for addressing all ad-hoc technical queries for IHO, provide technical support during external quarterly reporting and review accounting opinions on new, high risk insurance products. Duties will include:
- Provide independent review and recommendations over key business proposals including potential acquisitions, disposals and business cases.
- Assist the CFO in understanding the impact on the business arising from changes related to IFRS and Regulations with a view to assisting the business with optimising/ minimising the impact on key metrics. This will require an excellent understanding of Insurance as an industry, the Group’s insurance operations and how the changes will apply to the Group
To be considered for this role, you will ideally be a university degree holder with an ACA professional qualification and experience in an accountancy firm. You will have relevant experience in auditing, accounting or financial control management for Life insurance, and have excellent working knowledge of current IFRS as well as up to date with on-going developments in IFRS – particularly around IFRS 9 and IFRS 4 Phase II. You will require good working knowledge of Solvency II developments and an excellent working knowledge of EV reporting. Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills as well as proven ability to work in a multi-disciplined team will be prerequisite.
