Head of Transactional Banking

It's an opportunity to develop and execute a strategy for transactional banking and liabilities products across retail and corporate segments for a new bank. This role will be based in Edinburgh.

We're creating a new standalone challenger bank in the UK, supported by its own technology platform with the potential to be floated on the stock market. The business is made up of the RBS Branches in England Wales and NatWest in Scotland. It's a strong full service personal, private, SME and Corporate bank, large enough to stand alone in its own right, and well positioned for the future. It's often referred to publicly as 'Rainbow'

This role is within the RBS England Wales NatWest Scotland business and will become part of the new standalone bank which is expected to divest from RBS Group in 2015. Our vision is to launch this new challenger bank in 2015. It will be a service-led bank, designed around customers, with branches at its core:

As Head of Transactional Banking you'll be responsible for leading, initiating and driving product and pricing initiatives to maximise the sales potential, customer value and profitability of the transactional banking product lines. This involves creating and maintaining a product range that meets customer needs and supports acquisition and deepening of customer relationships. The Rainbow bank will offer its own product proposition to customers. You'll understand the Rainbow bank’s goals and financial objectives and deliver solutions that allow the new bank to compete successfully in the market place and build a customer base. And it's essential that you understand the regulatory agenda for transactional banking products and ensure regulatory requirements are met.

To succeed as Head of Transactional Banking, you will have significant experience within the retail banking industry and a strategic understanding of pricing and products. You'd be able to demonstrate your understanding of risk - specifically conduct risk and have experience of working with retail banking regulators. You'll also demonstrate strong financial and commercial acumen and understand the PL of a business. As well as the technical expertise required, you'll need a high level of enthusiasm and personal commitment required to set up a new business.
