Head of UK Compliance, AML and Financial Crime

Purpose of Role:
- To act as the firm’s senior manager responsible for Compliance Oversight.
- To ensure the maintenance and consistency of compliance standards, policy and documentation in the UK.
- To promote the maintenance and consistency of wider standards, policy and documentation in the UK to enable the Bank and Trust Company to comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.
- To act as UK focal point as regards general developments in the regulatory regime, co-ordinating and managing the firm’s response and reporting and advising senior management as required.
- To coordinate responses and reporting to the UK’s regulators, currently the FCA and PRA.
- To act as UK Lending Standards Code Compliance Officer.
- To act as the UK Data Protection Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assume responsibility for all aspects of the SGPBH UK Compliance function, including monitoring and advisory services and to undertake all necessary duties to assist the firm in ensuring that it is compliant in all regulatory respects.
- To ensure the prompt provision of all information requested by PRIV for SGPBH UK.
- Timely delivery of reports on compliance matters for the Group Head of CAFC to report to Committees (including the SG Hambros Audit Committee) and GIBS/CFT.
- Maintenance of open and constructive relationships with the relevant regulatory bodies by ensuring effective liaison between the Group and the regulators; and with the business and GIBS/CFT to promote best practice and ensure a good understanding of compliance requirements.
- Advise line management and senior management on all applicable regulatory obligations, including advising on business and regulatory developments, and on the procedures required to ensure compliance with these obligations.
- To ensure that the Group Head of CAFC is updated on all significant matters relating to UK compliance.
- To ensure that OpeRA reports for the SGPBH UK Compliance function are submitted on a timely basis.
- To ensure that SGPBH UK policy on compliance is applied consistently in the UK.
- To monitor SGPBH UK and ensure that the business is conducted in accordance with all relevant legislation, rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
- Keep up-to-date with current and proposed legislation and other regulations affecting SGPBH UK.
- Ensure the timely and accurate submission of regulatory returns allocated to the SGPBH UK Compliance function.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with the business heads, the relationship managers, operational managers and staff to promote best practice and ensure a good understanding of compliance requirements.
- To provide necessary training to staff as required to ensure that each individual is made aware of his or her regulatory obligations and of the procedures needed to ensure compliance.
- To ensure the development and implementation of comprehensive monitoring programmes, covering all aspects of the business, to check that the business continues to be conducted in compliance with all relevant regulatory obligations, to report to line management all significant exceptions, and to check that actual or potential breaches are remedied promptly.
- To ensure that any proposed new business initiatives consider compliance implications.
