Head, Program Management
SUMMARY
The Head, Program Management oversees and guides the operational execution of the credentialing and certificate education program portfolio at CFA Institute and provides leadership for the Program Management Department. The Program Management Head will be responsible for partnering with all functional program Heads (e.g. curriculum, exam development) and other key internal stakeholders (marketing, IT, Industry Relations) to ensure all aspects of the strategy and annual workplan are being delivered across the programs. The Head will oversee the program pricing strategy (including scholarships), candidate forecasting, and product level budgeting in partnership with Finance. The Head will also be the main liaison with the Claritas and CIPM Advisory Committees and be an active participant on the Program Strategy Team.
The position can be headquartered in Charlottesville, New York, or London and will be supported by the Managing Director and Co-Lead, Education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Accountable for the integrated operational execution of credentialing and certificate educational programs
- Oversee the successful implementation of the program shift charts and annual workplans
- Direct the implementation of the strategic priorities set by the Managing Directors, Education and Strategy team across the three programs
- Closely collaborate with relevant Educational Heads (Curriculum Development, Exam Development, Exam Admin, Candidate Products) and internal stakeholders in Marketing, Industry Relations, and IT to ensure that the program experience and content reflects industry practice and meet’s both corporate and learner’s needs
- Direct the creation and maintenance of candidate forecasts and program pricing, including scholarships, in partnership with Finance and ensure the correct resources and priorities are aligned to deliver them.
- Serve as liaison with the Claritas and CIPM Advisory Committees and facilitate meetings to elicit input and guidance on the strategy and operations of the programs
- In collaboration with senior management and the nominating committees, identify suitable candidates to serve on the advisory committees
- In collaboration with the Program functional Heads, develop the program budgets, monitor variances, and take timely corrective action as needed.
- Speak at industry conferences about the program portfolio and the importance of education, ethics and training for industry participants
- Direct comprehensive internal communications across departments and division
- Evaluate educational qualification gaps in the competitive landscape and recommend appropriate course of action based on BOG criteria
- Design and manage optimal organizational design for Program Management department
- Develop staff through ongoing feedback and formal performance evaluations
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years experience as investment professional with management responsibility
- CFA charter preferred
- Graduate degree preferred
- Fluency in English required, knowledge of additional languages would be useful.
- Must demonstrate outstanding stewardship and relationship building/management skills to expand the mission of CFA Institute
- Knowledge and experience of financial markets and issues
- Global cultural orientation and working experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation
- Proficient using standard office software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Experience in project management, with skills necessary to interpret what is needed for the success of a project and to create appropriate schedules for timely delivery
- Must demonstrate outstanding judgment and mature business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with senior management

- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Significant global travel may be required; approximately 15-25% percent of the time
- Energy to put in the hours of concentrated work necessary to achieve goals while maintaining a positive attitude
