Overview
The regulatory environment in which we operate is complex and rapidly changing. To maintain our position as a global financial services leader, it's critical that we be involved in the policy development discussions that shape our industry. Our Regulatory, Industry and Government Affairs division is responsible for monitoring policy, legislative and regulatory developments globally, and for engaging policymakers and regulators on these issues on behalf of State Street and our clients. An opportunity has emerged to head Regulatory, Industry and Government Affairs in the Asia Pacific.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and coordinate response to consultations on regulatory changes in the financial industry in the Asia Pacific in conjunction with business, compliance, legal and other areas
- Identify market access issues and formulate and execute a strategy to advance them
- Prepare background briefing, talking points, meeting records and presentations for senior executives
- Alert business and corporate areas to proposed regulatory changes and work with them to identify risks and opportunities
- Assist in writing short thought leadership pieces on regulatory changes
- Engage with clients on regulatory developments
- Represent the firm in regional industry associations
- Develop relationships with policy makers in the Asia Pacific
- While the position is HK-based, the position involves substantial regional travel.
Desirable Experience
- 5 years-plus experience in a related role in financialservices,an industry association, governmentor regulatory agency.
- Degree in politics, history, law, finance, economics, business, journalism
- Work in one or more countriesof the Asia Pacific

- Ability to understand complex issues quickly and to explain them clearly and concisely
- Willingness to take initiative and to drive issues through to conclusion in short time frames
- Advanced negotiation skills to achieve compromise and to resolve differences of opinion
- Management of numerous tasks across many countries at the same time
- Networking skills to establish effective internal and external networks across the region
- Drafting and delivery of presentations to media, clients and conferences
- Fluent spoken and written English and proficiency in one or more language of the Asia Pacific
