Health Metadata Junior Analyst (Job Number:303351) Description: Job Description: Support the collection, analysis, harmonization, and registration of metadata into the National Cancer Institutes (NCI) Cancer Data Standards Repository (caDSR), an ISO/IEC 11179 metadata registry. Develop guidance and standards for the creation of metadata for case report forms and UML models.. Support development of business rules, and best practices for metadata curation, including managing review and approval through a consensus process with work groups of cancer researchers. Requires ability to work with experts in medical terminology, health data standards (FDA, HL7, CDC, CDISC), and clinical data management, as well as database designers, data modelers. May also involve support for the development of data standards for NCI cancer research (clinical trials and bioinformatics) by participation in workgroup meetings on standards development and data harmonization Work will be done at the SAIC office in Tysons Corner, VA with an option to telecommute after an initial training period. Must be able to attend meetings in the general Washington DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia area and to travel occasionally to meetings in other cities. Qualifications : Education: Bachelors degree plus two years of experience or relevant professional experience in excess of 6 years. Prefer education or experience in medical or health-related field. Required Skills/Experience: Data analysis experience in a health-related, medical research, or life science field. Experience in one or more of the following: systems analysis, data integration, conceptual data modeling or metadata creation. Strong written, verbal, listening, and communication skills. Ability to perform detailed analysis of information requirements and to assist users and other stakeholders to identify and clarify data definitions and business rules. Understanding of enterprise information management principles. Desired Skills: Knowledge and understanding of the fields of health care, clinical trials, medical research, and/or bioinformatics. Knowledge of metadata standards, and data exchange formats (XML). Knowledge of medical terminology, classification systems, taxonomies, and coding schemes. Understanding of commercial clinical trials management tools such as Medidata, C3D, or Velos. Group facilitation skills including negotiation and consensus building. SAIC Overview:
