Sunraysia Community Health Services (SCHS) and the Mildura Rural City Council will play a key role in implementing the new local “Healthy Communities” initiative. This initiative is linked to supporting the recently established Victorian Prevention Community Model (VCPM) which in turn supports the National Partnership Agreement on Preventative Health between Commonwealth and State Governments. Objectives of the VCPM are to build a community-level prevention system through delivering and supporting interventions aimed at preventing health issues relating to obesity, physical activity, nutrition, tobacco and alcohol use. SCHS has the following exciting opportunities:
Healthy Settings Officer
SCHS is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced applicants that are interested in playing a key role in the success of this exciting new initiative. Primary objectives will include supporting a community-level prevention system by:
- Effectively Supporting the implementation of Health Promoting Schools and Health Promoting Workplaces Frameworks.
- Coordinating interventions in community settings to create supportive environments for preventive health and facilitate a network of practitioners supporting settings based health promotion.
A postgraduate degree in health promotion, public health, community development, or related field is a must.
Health Promotion Officers
SCHS is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced applicants that are interested in playing a key role in the success of this exciting new initiative. Primary objectives will include supporting implementation of state-wide prevention health interventions at the community level by:
- Assisting early childhood services, schools and workplaces to implement the Health Promoting Schools or the Environments for Health Promoting Workplaces framework.
- Supporting partnerships to undertake health promotion interventions and
- Providing advocacy support on preventive health issues.
Whilst not essential, tertiary qualifications or a postgraduate degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development or a related field would be highly advantageous.
