This international coal mining company has an excellent reputation for innovation and its progress through the use of advanced technology. With a number of operations already across the East Coast, and plans to keep growing, this is a great time to join the company. They are looking for a Health, Safety and Training (HST) Manager for their open cut coal mine near Blackwater in the Bowen Basin.
Reporting to the General Manager you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and improving the onsite health and safety management system
- Ensuring ongoing compliance to current legislation
- Managing the Health, Safety and Training team (7 staff)
- Providing leadership and direction in relation to training, development, and rehabilitation processes
- Promoting a safe working culture throughout the organisation from senior management down
- Financial management and reporting
- Contractor management
To be successful in this role you will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Prior experience in a similar role at an open cut mine operation
- Tertiary qualifications in OHS or related discipline
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment
- Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator
- Internal Auditor
- RIIRIS301A - Apply Risk Management Processes
- RIIOHS301A - Conduct Safety and Health Investigations
- RIICOM301A - Communicate information
- RIIRIS402A - Implement and Maintain Risk Management Process
- Strong understanding of related legislation and regulations including the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act
- High level communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Proven leadership skills and ability
