Healthcare Economics Consultant – SAS Data Analytics
The Healthcare Economics Consultant will be part of our Medical Informatics team based in Cypress, CA (working from the Rockville, MD and/or Trumbull, CT offices will be considered for strong candidates). Positions in this function research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analysis of utilization and healthcare cost data. This includes providing management with findings and recommendations for further investigation, providing data to other functional areas, and working collectively with other team members to identify potential areas for medical cost improvement.
Key job responsibilities include:
Provides consultative advice on use of data as subject matter expert and interprets/summarizes analytical findings
Proactively recognizes data patterns and recommends solutions to potential issues
Performs data extraction, enhancement, and quality checking from multiple sources in support of trend identification, root cause analysis, affordability initiative development, and validation/measurement of medical expense reduction initiatives
Works independently and reviews the work of others
Maintains progress on multiple concurrent projects
May lead functional teams or projects
Develops high level project plans
Identifies opportunities for improving analytic capabilities of existing data sources and reporting tools
Researches and implements new coding techniques
Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
3+ years experience: SAS programming (PC or UNIX)
3+ years experience: Healthcare analytics
Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel, Access
Experience analyzing large datasets and working with relational databases such as Oracle and/or TeraData
Ability to work with minimal guidance
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Knowledge of Health care claims and standardized code sets
Must be self motivated with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
Strong public speaking and/or presentation skills
Preferred:
Project leadership/management experience
Proficient with Microsoft Office: Project, VISIO
SQL Programming experience
Experience designing efficient SAS data marts
Understanding of IT production and change control processes
Advanced degree in Healthcare related field, math, or statistics
