High frequency Strategist recruitment

The Company

A Hedge Fund with a global presence and a strong 10 year track record. Trades FX, futures and equity. They have a multi-strategy approach with several group running strategies across global markets. The company is research led and data driven, with the long-term aim of delivering significant returns for its institutional investors.

The Group.

The group is focused on running high frequency trading strategies. They are a small team of senior individuals with very strong quantitative/scientific/research backgrounds and take a team-based focus to complex problems in the high-frequency trading space. Their infrastructure is low-latency, but their approach is also to emphasize the profitability of the strategies being derived from more than just superior infrastructure. They use more than one language but a lot of the algorithmic work is designed for concurrency and the focus is on scalable design and robust operation

The Role

The group is currently expanding and is looking to take on a senior quantitative strategist who can work alongside current members of group in researching and building new innovative high frequency strategies.

They have a preference to add an individual who has significant experience in building robust commodity future strategies as this is a current area of development for the group. However they would also consider someone whose primary focus has been in other asset classes as the skills are transferable. For this to be applicable they expect to see an exceptional quantitative background with a significant amount of experience in research – either in academia (Ph.D) or in industry.

This is particularly important as the group takes a very scientific approach in terms of researching the strategies – but also in determining which ones it runs live.

Extremely strong programming skills are essential, as is the ability to work as part of a group: communication skills must be very strong. This is a group that is growing and therefore would be ideal for someone who is looking to be in a position where they will be challenged and rewarded with increased responsibility and career progression. This is not suitable for individuals who prefer to work alone and are content to rest on their laurels

Demonstrable experience in building high frequency strategies

Ph.D in quantitative subject

Programming skills in C++/ C# / Matlab, / R.

Excellent communication skills

Solid understanding of futures markets
