High frequency trader / portfolio manager. recruitment
The Company
A Hedge Fund with a global presence and a strong 10 year track record. Trades FX, futures and equity. They have a multi-strategy approach with several group running strategies across global markets. The company is research led and data driven, with the long-term aim of delivering significant returns for its institutional investors.
The Group.
The group is focused on running high frequency trading strategies. They are a small team of senior individuals with very strong quantitative/scientific/research backgrounds and take a team-based focus to complex problems in the high-frequency futures trading space. Their infrastructure is low-latency, but their approach is also to emphasize the profitability of the strategies being derived from more than just superior infrastructure. They use more than one language but a lot of the algorithmic work is designed for concurrency and the focus is on scalable design and robust operation
The Role
The group is currently looking to add a well versed individual to the group who has significant experience in researching and building high frequency futures trading strategies. They are looking to add someone who can immediately play an active role as the group is currently expanding within the fund. As such the successful candidate will be expected to have a strong track record and have the experience and quantitative background to be able to continue to research new and innovative strategies.
Due to the current size of the group, individuals work on a fairly stand alone, portfolio manager, basis in terms of building and developing strategies. However the group also has a strong emphasis on research and collaboration, and as such there is discussion in terms of which strategies should go live, how the group expands, how certain ideas can be evolved etc. It is for this reason there is a preference for someone who has a strong background in research and therefore is familiar with an environment of debate and discussion, has the quantitative background to be able to actively participate in these conversation whilst also having the experience and initiative to be able to work alone.
They have a preference for someone who has been in a leadership role and can demonstrate the drive to grow within the group. If the successful candidate is able to produce consistent strong returns or has the appropriate background, there will the opportunity to build out a team as the group believes that this will lead to organic growth of the group and therefore sustainable profitability.
