Our client is one of the most significant multinationals (+/- 750 milj turnover) successfully operating and growing in its sector. Currently, in order to strengthen their finance department, we are looking for an experienced and outstanding individual for the position of Head of Controlling. You will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

 

Responsibilities

 

Reporting to the CFO, the Group Controller will take full, hands-on responsibility for the controlling function for the Group. The Group Controller will be charged with improving the controlling team, structure, process and procedures and through these actions, will deliver world class financial information and business oriented financial management. Key responsibilities will include:

-         Reporting-develop and deliver timely and accurate reporting of results in line with procedures and schedules identify relevant KPI to understand, evaluate and challenge business performance.

-         Operational Financial Management Control – deliver world class financial planning and control tools and processes, develop KPI’s and reporting templates, identify and master drivers of margins and costs, set up tight control structures for cash flow end working capital and robust capex approval procedures.

-         Project Management – develop and supervise budgeting and business plans, pro-actively indentify and organise business analyses.

-         Management – manage and organise the team of divisional and corporate controllers, encourage them and improve the quality of reporting and accounting procedures, challenge their role and performance, develop required competences.

-         Interface to the business – partnering with the CFO, roll up sleeves and drive deep into the business and proactively seek and manage appropriate change and modernisation throughout the entire organisation, cascade appropriate change and modernisation throughout the entire organisation, cascade appropriate financial goal awareness throughout the business through both formal and informal methods, create and maintain communication and working relationships at senior management throughout the business

-         Investor relations – participate in external and internal communications.

 

Qualifications:

 

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

-         High-calibre financial profile with a university degree and finance qualifications, preferably with additional specialised training or degrees such as an MBA

-         A Financial background and experience in a Big Four company is an asset.

-         Exposure to mergers and acquisitions and other aspects of corporate finance is needed.

-         Successful track record in a fast moving international blue-chip environment with a high degree of complexity and significant manufacturing component (min. 10 years).

-         Strong operational profile, willing and able to get involved in the businesses and challenge and stimulate the business managers and finance colleagues

-         Commercial and technical skills to upgrade the quality of analysis and reporting tot achieve greater understanding of het key business issues.

-         Capable of partnering effectively with het CFO, providing him with a sounding board and alternative perspectives on the financial function.

-         Able to present and relate well tot the financial community although doesn’t necessarily have to be hugely experienced in this area.

-         Stature to lead and become a CFO eventually

-         Functional leadership skills to ensure calibre and motivation of finance capability across the group.

-         Robust, challenging, energetic and positive personality

-         Would need to fluently speak Dutch and English, preferably also French.
