Histology Technician Job in Carlsbad 92009, California US
Adecco Medical and Science, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of medical and scientific professionals, has an immediate opening for a Histology Technician on a Direct-Hire opportunity in Carlsbad, CA.
The Histology Technician is responsible for pre-analytical, and post-analytical processes associated with specimen processing and test performance within the solid tissue or histology lab.
Responsibilities:
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, and transportation and storage of specimens.
Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and assist in the performance of quality control and calibration-verification procedures.
Document all quality control activities.
Assist in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, or director.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
Preparation and storage of reagents and culture media.
Transcribe results that have been previously recorded, either manually be a physician or licensed personnel, or automatically by a testing instrument.
Perform all analytical processes only under the direct and constant supervision of a qualified supervisor or physician.
Route all completed test data to a qualified supervisor or physician for review and reporting.
Perform tissue sectioning from paraffin blocks using automated/semi-automated microtome.
Operate and program platform of slide stainer.
Perform manual staining and examine/microdissect tissue using a microscope.
Help un-pack, accession, stain all types of specimens and order test requests in LIS as needed.
Assists in the training of new personnel with regard to technical and operational procedures.
Adheres to established turn-around-times while maintaining the highest quality of test results and the most efficient use of resources.
Conforms to all company policies and procedures and maintains a business-like, professional attitude at all times.
Helps to maintain a safe working environment by strict adherence to company safety policies and procedures. Is alert to the existence of safety hazards and reports any unsafe conditions to the department manager.
May perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology
HT or HTL (ASCP) certified.
4 years of relevant work experience
Hours: Must be able to work Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-5:30pm, but may have rotating schedule.
