In this position you will provide overall supervision of patient care and hospital services on your assigned shift.  This includes problem solving, assisting staff in patient care decisions, coordinating staffing of the units and intervening in any matter which needs immediate attention.  Interactions may involve hospital staff, medical staff, students, patients and families, visitors, volunteers, public officials and the news media. The nursing supervisor is responsible for seeing that established standards of nursing practice and patient care are being met, including appropriate utilization of assigned personnel based on clinical competence and coordinating team work among all members of the health care team.

 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
Responsible for clinical oversight and support of hospital staff when hospital managers and directors are not available on site. 
 
Rounds in all departments at least once per shift and more often as needs warrant.
 
Rounds on a minimum number of patients each shift to identify opportunities for improvement in patient care and processes, with subsequent communication to appropriate nursing leadership representatives.
 
Takes initiative to problem-solve and follows through to address issues and concerns of staff, patients and families.
 
Serves as a resource to and supports staff in planning for and providing exceptional patient care and customer service.
 
Intervenes during crisis and emergency situations providing leadership to staff and support to families.
 

Requirements for this position:

This is a full time, night shift position.  Shifts may be 8 or 12 hours (7p - 7a, or 11p - 7a), and will include

every other weekend and every other holiday.
