HR Consulting Director

Job SummarySenior level human resources (HR) generalist supporting CNA’s Field Underwriting Operation, specifically leading HR for our Northern Zone (Midwestern US) branches and our Product Development and Sales department in Chicago. These businesses span 7 locations and include 9 senior leaders. HR leadership for these business units includes advising and consulting on all areas of HR.  The HR Generalist collaborates with business leadership, designs and executes strategic, long range, operational and developmental goals, and will engage in projects for the business and for HR.
 
Essential Duties Responsibilities1. Acts as a strategic business partner to senior management, consulting on all areas of HR and related issues.  2. Develops HR strategic plans and budgets and establishes strategic and long-term HR direction for the functional area. Ensures execution of plans.3. Oversees HR operations for a business area.4. Assists others in resolving high visibility HR issues and problems.5. Identifies, recommends, develops and implements programs or processes to address business needs.6. Engages regularly in project teams and may lead projects or assignments within their business unit and within HR7. Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.  Demonstrates strong coaching skills.8. Stays up to date on trends and developments within HR, the functional area as well as the insurance industry.9. Highly analytical.  Comfortable driving and influencing decision making utilizing data.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Reporting RelationshipAVP or above
Education Experience1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with professional certifications preferred.2. Minimum of eight years related work experience with demonstrated proficiency in all generalist capacities including employee relations, recruiting, compensation administration, organizational design and development and established depth in talent management processes and practices.
