The HR Specialist reports to the Project Director/Project Manager/Studies Manager and will develop and maintain relationships with Internal Stakeholders and external consultants
ROLE SUMMARY
Working closely with the HR Department, the position develops and delivers comprehensive HR chapters for the various study phases, and provides comprehensive HR generalist expertise in the development of HR systems, processes and strategies for the Canadian Projects team. The position also provides ongoing expertise, guidance and knowledge to the Project Director and Study Managers on people challenges, risks and opportunities in the establishment of the Canada Projects operation.
The role carries significant planning and long lead execution works, including transition planning to ensure an effective and seamless shift to regular operations.
Key accountabilities (will include, but are not limited to):
Review existing HR infrastructure and develop tailored foundational HR services and systems for Canada Projects, whilst remaining within broader company principles
Partner with HR and Global Shared Services to develop and establish HR Services Support Strategy
Lead and influence organizational design, including the development and maintenance of role profiles and organizational structures
Participate in the planning and execution of Employee Relations strategies
Provide authoritative advice and recommendations on HR and employment issues in accordance with company guidelines
Prepare Frontline Leadership and Operator Proficiency implementation strategies, ensuring systems are in place for first operations commencement
Develop and implement employee engagement and mobilization framework for the Canadian market
Develop and implement key Diversity strategies and partner with Resourcing teams to ensure Diversity objectives are achieved
Develop regular reporting templates, including the generation of HR monthly reporting requirements and relevant internal Project / Operations based reporting.
Provide HR inputs into budget cycle as part 2012/2013 planning of costs and resources to ensure budget targets are met in line with the business plan.
Ensure that company values are lived
Ensure Project / Study deliver on time and to company standard at each stage-gate.
Ensure study team is clear on context, intent of the project and associated roles and responsibilities (as measured by the Team Development Index) are well understood.
Reporting / communication is transparent, verified and timely.
Project achieves objectives as defined in the business case (IP) and project charter.
Client (Operation) satisfaction.
Project deliverable achieves planned performance.
Project milestones met.
Project activities completed within budget.
Human recourse development plans are in place and managed.
All project activity is performed within strictest ethical standards.
Essential systems, establishing SAP, Scenario TES and similar infrastructure for Operations, working with GSS specifically on payroll establishment
QUALIFICATIONS
Tertiary Qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Management, Law or Psychology and/or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE
Project and/or operational HR experience in a mining setting, including site based experience as HR leader/subject matter expert. The ideal candidate will preferably have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. Canadian or Northeastern British Columbia mining experience is preferred.
As well, the candidate will have knowledge and experience of mining and related operations and some knowledge of geology, mining, metallurgy, and engineering.
