Role Synopsis
Baker Hughes’s HR department drives leading edge people strategies and practices to attract and retain a talented workforce which enables us to execute our business strategy. Reporting to the Director HR, the HR Manager, will deal with all levels of in the organization while adding value to the business.
Located in the Houston area, the HR Manager will provide proactive HR advice, guidance and support to a diverse set of business clients. Key areas of support include organization effectiveness, team development and performance management. As an integral part of the broader Human Resources team, you will contribute to the achievement of strong business results while developing and improving HR programs and processes. You will be measured by continually improving HR programs and processes in a culture valuing client service, responsiveness and proactive solutions.
This position requires a highly motivated individual that desires an opportunity to broaden their experience in H.R. by supporting our global portfolio footprint of product lines by effectively collaborating and coordinating support activities with intra-company H.R. partners. Maintains and proactively manages clients by establishing a close business partner relationship with management and employees
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Coaching managers and management with respect to the application of core HR practices, processes and tools.
- Providing timely, high quality support to managers to ensure employee relations, organizational design and recruitment needs are addressed appropriately.
- Ensuring leaders are well equipped regarding competitive compensation, attraction/recruitment/selection retention, goal alignment, and training.
- Providing support to leaders with respect to completion of quarterly/annual processes such as the performance management, development planning, salary planning and succession planning within assigned portfolio.
- Partners with managers to day to day administration of policies and programs covering areas which may include recruiting, compensation and benefits, training, employee and labor relations, and personnel research.
- Actively participating in client management teams, gaining an understanding of their business and opportunities to support with HR solutions and information.
- Working collaboratively with the broader HR team to develop objectives work plans and share knowledge and expertise.
- Leading and developing a small team of HR professionals.
- Responsible for managing employee talent and development activities, including but not limited to: talent calibration – classification, management and development planning and succession planning.
Basic Qualifications
- Related post-secondary degree or diploma (Business, Human Resources or Behavioural Sciences), complemented by 8-10 years directly related experience.
- Proven track record in delivering HR advice/support that aligns with business needs and objectives.
- Experience as a participating member of the client group's management team
- Strong analytical skills, sound business judgment and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Proven conflict resolution, change management and influencing skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with both building and improving upon HR programs and processes.
- Previous experience implementing integrations.
- Excellent communication skills and a focus on positive, productive business relationships.
- Solid training and facilitation skills
- Ability to lead and be part of a team.
- Understands the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of human resource field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be a team player.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience utilizing HR Information Systems; experience with SAP would be an asset.
- Experience assisting in policy development.
- Experience participating in cross-divisional HR teams.
- Experience in communicating HR related programs to managers and employees.
- Handle special projects, as assigned
