AGS is a multi-plant supplier to the automotive industry. Due to our rapid expansion, we are seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Sterling Heights facilities.

 

BASIC FUNCTION

 

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, developing and implementing plans and programs to ensure the most effective utilization of human resources to support the facility’s objectives. This position is responsible for the administration of all HR policies and practices within the Sterling Heights facilities. Manages labor and employee relations, employee training and development, assures implementation of the Company’s compensation and benefits programs, works with site management to plan for human resource requirements, participates in the collective bargaining process, implements Health and Safety and other employee relations programs.  Plans and programs must be strategically, operationally and tactically aligned with the Company’s business objectives and management initiatives.  

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

·         Direct the administration of all facility specific HR policies and practices.

 

·         Participate in the negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement and directs the administration of contract provisions.

 

·         Develop and administer the facility’s employee development and training initiatives.

 

·         Co-ordinate the facility’s bench strength planning and development process.

 

·         Administer the facility’s recruitment process for all positions to ensure the timely flow of high caliber talent into the organization.

 

·         Work with the facility operational management to identify and plan for human resource requirements to meet short and long-term business needs.

 

·         Ensure organizational compliance with all employment-related regulations including EEOC regulations, the OSHA, the Fair Labor Standards Act and National Labor Relations Act.

 

·         Administer the facility’s compensation and benefits programs.

 

·         Implement the facility’s employee relations programs.

 

·         Support other operations in all aspects of HR planning and administration.

 

·         Manage the HRIS system and ensure effective interface with payroll and other business-related functions.

 

·         Perform special projects in support of the organization’s business objectives.

 

·         Responsible for maintaining Quality Procedures and Instructions within the department.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

·         Five to seven years related HR management experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 3 years management experience in a unionized environment required.

 

·         Must possess a generalist working knowledge in all HR competencies such as compensation and benefits administration, labor relations, negotiations, recruitment, training and development, workers compensation, health and safety programs and the implementation of positive employee relation processes.

 

·         Must have demonstrated knowledge of all applicable employment laws and regulations governing operations and compliance.

 

·         Must have excellent human relations, communication skills.

 

·         Working knowledge with Microsoft office and plant software applications.

 

·         University or college degree in business or humanities.
