Job Title: -- HVAC Mobile Mechanic

INLAND EMPIRE / RIVERSIDE AREA

SUMMARY:  Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs, specializing in HVAC equipment, by self performing or coordinating subcontracting of the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Receives verbal instructions from the client, Operations Supervisor or the dispatcher.  Generates or receives CMMS work orders. 

 

Performs preventive maintenance work orders according to schedule.

 

Performs preventative maintenance tasking on HVAC equipment, i.e., spring fall start-ups, cleaning coils and changing filters.

 

Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to chillers (and boilers, if certified) as required.

 

Maintains and repairs buildings' HVAC systems, including replacing worn or defective parts, such as switches, fuses, contacts, motors, wiring, etc.

 

Completes a compressor change-out when required.

 

Completes HVAC system change-outs, i.e., package units split systems, when required.

 

Maintains and repairs plumbing on HVAC systems (hot water heaters may be included).

 

Lubricates fans, motors, bearings, and control units.

 

Records temperature, pressure, and other readings on log sheet as needed.

 

Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical heat and refrigeration systems (may include boilers, if certified).

 

Operates refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, charging equipment and service gauges. (EPA Universal).

 

Obtains pricing and submits recommendations for repairs to the client Operations Supervisor.

 

Communicates effectively with the client to determine what services are needed.

 

Contacts the Operations Supervisor if additional support is needed.

 

Coordinates and supervises additional support while on site.

 

Completes and submits paperwork accurately and on time.

 

Manages time wisely and remains productive while working independently.

 

 

Works required hours.  Is available during non-work hours as needed and responds to emergency calls in a timely manner.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities (such responsibilities may only be delegated by the Operations Supervisor).

COMPUTER SKILLS:  N/A  

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical trade school; and five or more years mechanical experience, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry required; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.  Mechanical experience, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Must possess a valid driver's license. EPA Universal Certification required. HVAC Master License preferred. Boiler certification preferred, but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to working near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold and heat.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate noise.
