HYCO PLANT PROCESS ENGINEER Job in Houston, Texas US

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Plant Process Engineer in the Houston, TX area.

The successful candidate will support Productivity and Plant Operations at a variety of Hydrogen plants in the Houston area, including (but not limited to) the Pasadena SMR, HyCO III at LaPorte, Baytown HyCO and shift plant, and several satellite off-gas plants. In addition, this individual will provide occasional support to the Operating Service Center.

Responsibilities:
1. Identifying, leading, and completing Productivity projects aimed at improving the cost position and/or reliability at the plant.
2. Support for plant environmental, health, and safety programs, through project hazards reviews, and regular participation in the site safety meetings and annual safety training.
3. Plant efficiency tracking and control, including analysis of daily plant efficiency, and ensuring the plant operates optimally. Putting systems in place to ensure that the plant operators and management understand the optimal run point for each plant.
4. Troubleshooting and resolution of operating problems.
5. Monitoring water treatment and steam quality issues.
6. Assisting in the resolution of longer-term reliability and maintenance issues involving unusual corrosion, steam quality concerns, fouling of heat transfer surfaces, pre-mature catalyst degradation, breakdown of insulation, and other chronic equipment and performance problems.
7. Collaborating with the North American Operating Service Center (OSC) and other HyCO sites.

Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- 3 or more years in either Operations or Engineering in a technical support or design role.

Other Qualifications:
- Desire to make a measurable positive impact to plant performance and profitability.
- Desire for hands-on work in a plant operating environment.
- Effective and committed team member; collaborating with plant personnel, GSS, CI, GEO and Technology.
- Prior experience at an operating plant or in the design of H2 plants would be helpful, but is not required.
- Experience in using AspenPlus process simulator would be helpful, but is not required.
- Experience with DCS programming would be helpful, but is not required.
