Hydrologist recruitment
Leading Energy Trading business is now seeking a Hydrologist to join its energy trading analytics team in London. Hydrological analysis is key for European countries where Hydro electricity is a significant part of their electricity generation.
You will have wide ranging responsibilities including forecasting on a daily basis, non-managed hydro production for relevant countries in Continental Europe (in coordination with the meteorologists), collecting information about Hydro systems including flow and rainfall data, reservoir levels and snowpack, maintaining and improving existing hydro models and setting up new models for additional countries when needed.
In addition you will also maintain and improve existing Water temperature models and set up new ones when needed coordinate analysis with other hydro analysts and potentially look at some wind models, you will then communicate analysis results and relevant hydro information to traders and analysts.
You should have at least 2 years experience of Hydro Power Modelling and ideally some hydro meteorological forecasting experience. In addition you should have very strong analytical and modelling skills ideally using VBA and Matlab. Communication skills are very important as you will be presenting to Traders and other desks throughout the business.
