TBC Corporation is currently looking for an Open Systems Manager to work in our Technology Department.

General Summary

 

The Open Systems Manager is responsible for the day to day management and operations of TBC Corporation’s Open Systems infrastructure, which includes Linux, Windows Server (2000-2008R2), Microsoft SQL Server (2000-2008R2), Storage Area Networks, x86-based virtualization platforms (VMWare, Citrix, HP and Cisco Blades), Windows Services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), Exchange 2003/2010, Lync 2010, SharePoint 2010, and Backup/Restore. The Open Systems manager will be responsible for in house and contractor staff as well as maintaining and developing working relationships with corporate IT functional groups. This position is responsible for working with end users and other Shared Services IT departments to determine needs, analyzing and forecasting usage, determining capacity requirements, recommending infrastructure solutions, executing performance monitoring and tuning, managing change to technical environments, ensuring adequate and thorough testing, responding to incidents and support requests, designing and implementing corrective and preventative action, using metrics to monitor health of infrastructure components, and building reports to communicate with key stakeholders. This position will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and administration of the overall strategies and policies for the Open Systems team. This position will establish standards and support methodologies, which ensure quality of execution across the enterprise and security and integrity of processes.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

·         Provides guidance and direction to team members reporting to him/her.

·         Effectively manages the day to day activities of the team including employee maintenance such as time off approvals, performance appraisals, and promoting a positive working environment.

·         Maintains a manner of leadership and flexibility that diffuses pressure and promotes a team atmosphere.

·         Provide leadership, anticipates and resolves problems, and ensures inter-group cooperation to meet all operational obligations and objectives.

·         Make recommendations and implement enhancements for increased uptime, performance and reliability.

·         Maintains expertise in the application and use of systems, tools, and processes within the department's scope.

·         Promotes customer satisfaction and quality customer service.

·         Ensure infrastructure technologies are maintained and current.

·         Ensures support and coordination of afterhours tasks as required by the department's scope and deliverable timelines.

·         Escalates issues to Management in a timely and appropriate manner.

·         Ensures resource workload is clearly defined and appropriately coordinated to meet deliverable timelines.

·         Ensures the appropriate documentation and adherence to departmental processes and procedures.

·         Ensure complete infrastructure technical documentation.

·         Encourages an open, learning, and progressive environment to allow the team's exploration of new solutions.

·         Monitors data security.

·         Provides strategic direction and recommendations on new technology.

·         Review infrastructure performance reporting and metrics for stability to support 24x7x365 operations.

·         Participate in ITIL based change management process providing business impact and risk perspective to proposed production changes. Ensure team follows established policies and procedures for internal and external audits.

·         Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

·         Manage the capital and expense items to meet budget expectations.
