Introduction to the business the role:Equities FBM is seeking an ED level Senior Business Manager, based in NY, who would support the NA Equities business from an end to end perspective.
The role will support the head of this business and his directs and reports into the Global Equities Senior Business Manager.
As an integral part of the senior management team for the NA Equities business, the BM's major responsibilities are:
Responsibilities include:

Drive strategy and growth:Act as trusted advisor and counterweight to Business Head and his management team. Provide management assistance by convening business reviews and management meetingsEstablish business strategy and priorities (in conjunction with Business Head)Develop business cases for the commitment of resourcesEnsure delivery of business
initiatives and projects - provide overall governance across multiple initiativesAlign front office teams and support groups (Fin, Tech, Ops, Legal, HR) to business prioritiesEnsure business strategy considers market structure and regulatory changesDrive competitive analysis and reporting (in conjunction with central team)Communicate business trends, strategy, performance and prioritiesFocus on regional and cross-business partnerships, plus industry partnershipsContribute to strategic initiatives by supporting regional, cross-business and industrial partnerships; support strategic acquisitions and/or investment analysis2.
Optimize business performance and planning:Drive business, financial, technology and operational planning to achieve business priorities.
Ensure optimal resource budgeting and allocation.Ensure alignment of direct and indirect expense allocations with the current business environmentDrive key initiatives to optimize bottom line business performance (efficiency, profitability, expense and overhead management, balance sheet/RWA and treasury funding, capital utilization in partnership with Product controller)Oversee investment/productivity initiatives across the end-to-end business to achieve multi-year targetsRepresent business to internal and external AuditorsLead annual business budget process (in conjunction with Planning and Analysis team)Own market share, market wallet, talent identification and competitor analysis (leverage external surveys like Coalition, McLagan) as well as network market search firmsOversight for real estate needs and space planning3.
Market Structure:Driving compliance with regulatory change (Dodd Frank, Volker rule, Basel III, LCR)Able to represent the Equities business to regulators (example: OCC)Understanding of the new hotspots in terms of regulatory development (short sell requirements by market, DMA/Algo controls and principles, dark/lit pools, crossing engines and co-location, mandatory OTC clearing, new trading venues/MTFsNA legal entity strategy and future booking model4.
Manage business risks:Identify, assess and mitigate business risks that could impair the ability to do business across the multiple countries the franchise spans:i.
Specific immediate threats (e.g. regulatory violations, tax law changes, ability to handle credit events, operational and technology capacity issues, extraordinary transaction costs)ii.
Compounded problems (e.g. under-investment in product workflow across several support areas)iii.
Underlying risks (e.g. fraud, new competitive forces, market failure, commitment-related/underwriting risks)iv.
Risks within new product build out (Coordinate New Business Initiative Approval process acting as facilitator across all disciplines)Ensure that effective business continuity
plans existOversight that an effective control environment exists, which satisfies corporate 'best practice' and meets both internal and external control standards5.
Business / Product coverageManaging team of Equities business managers in NA / LATAM6.
Other:Contribute to NA IB and global Equities business agendasCoordinate chair quarterly BCC meetings and other reviewsContribute to FBM annual objectives and agendaPromote IB values and cultureDeliver town halls, teach ins, internal communication forumsLeadership profile means mentoring, coaching and developing junior staff across any functional group is expected

Qualifications
Skill set / experience required:
Business Management, Middle Office, Finance and/or Equities Brokerage experience preferred, however, solid experience from one or a number of the following businesses is acceptable:Capital marketsTrading business environmentA private equity / hedge fundThe investment arm of a financial institution
Knowledge could include but not be limited to:Understanding of front-to-back best practices for Cash Equities, Prime Brokerage and Equity Derivatives (both listed and OTC)Knowledge in information technology within financial institutions and experience in planning and building efficient systemsUnderstanding of legal and compliance requirements for financial institutions Operations and general administration experience on a regional or global levelExcellent communication skills with strong English fluency (written and spoken)
