Market Risk (MR) is an independent group which performs a key role in the bank's control framework and is uniquely positioned to ensure all market risks are made transparent to senior management, the businesses, regulators and investors.
MR works with trading and other functions to fully understand the implications of market risks and helps senior management to make decisions from a risk/return perspective.
MR works to optimise the firms return on risk, and to reduce volatility in operating performance.
Global Commodities Group (GCG) is growing and expanding quickly to be one of the biggest and most creative Commodities businesses across America, Asia Pacific and EMEA covering Oil, Natural Gas, Power, Base Metals, Precious Metals, Agriculturals Softs, Commodity Investor Products Exotics, and Strategic Trading, etc.
To provide sufficient market risk management coverage for this exciting business, a VP level market risk manager position is now open.
Job Description
Market Risk coverage lead for Global Metals business (both base and precious).
The position requires close liaison with metals global trading heads to identify and challenge significant risks in light of market outlook and structural positioning in the metals market. Whilst MR is an independent risk group the role will also involve providing analytical support for the trading business and thus requires ability to partner closely with traders.The position involves responsibility for 1 direct report but the successful applicant will be expected to take a leadership role across the wider MR coverage group such as leading some global initiatives. Opportunities for professional growth within the role/team are exceptional.As well as trading heads, he/she will work closely with Finance, Valuation, MR Technology, Middle Office and other support groups on all risk management related issues.
He/she will also provide support to our Asia trading platform for market risk related issues and will work very closely with our Asia market risk manager for commodities.
Examples of key projects include: Analysis of physical asset optionality, transitioning to state of the art risk management systems, analysis of regulatory related effects on commodities markets aswell as directing implementation of regulatory related reporting requirements, Tail risk quantification across assets etc.

Qualifications
Skills/QualificationsUnderstanding of market risk management principles and previous market risk management experience in related areasGood knowledge and understanding of commodities markets products required (possibly prior trading experience)Strong analytical quantitative skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills
